Police are appealing for witnesses after a young man was robbed close to Lancing Railway Station.

The victim was walking along Sompting Road about 5.25pm on Wednesday 12 June when he was approached by an unknown man close to the junction with Rosecroft Close.

The suspect is reported to have revealed a knife as he demanded the victim’s bag, which he duly handed over in fear of being stabbed. The bag happened to be empty.

The 21-year-old victim then ran south towards the seafront and ensured he was safe, before calling police.

The suspect is described as mixed race, aged 15 to 18, of medium height, wearing a black bum bag, a grey or green jumper and dark coloured trousers.

Enquiries are ongoing, and officers are urging anyone who saw what happened to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 1118 of 12/06.

You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or report it online.
