From today (Tuesday, October 7), we are moving to a new site for both our public news pages and our media centre as part of a national programme to standardise our online 'shopfront' for engagement with police forces. The aim is to offer the public a consistent way of engaging with their local force and accessing police services online.
Here in Sussex, we have instigated the 'media centre' aspect of the new website as we believe it is the most effective way of providing information to media colleagues via a central point, removing the problems of emailed releases going to an unattended generic address, to people who have moved on or are on leave and the regular return indicating that 'this recipient's email box is full'!
Our new Media Centre can be found here. While outwardly it appears to be much the same as the public news pages, it does include extras (when applicable) such as newsdesk notes and downloadable high res images.
Kindly note that if you currently receive our email updates, these will no longer be available. However, you will be able to subscribe to our stories using our RSS feed, which is the orange symbol under 'Follow us' in the 'Latest' section of the new media centre. If you’re not sure how to do this, guidance can be found here or here. Please note that these are links to independent sites provided for guidance only and Sussex Police are not responsible for their content, nor should it be understood to be an endorsement of that website or the sites' owners (or their products/services).
