A Brighton man has been sentenced for his part in a Brighton robbery.
Marli Casaletto has been sent to prison for five years and one month for his involvement in a robbery of a security van in November 2018.
At 1.20pm two boxes containing cash were stolen from a security van crew member in Conway Street, Hove on Monday 19 November. The crew member was threatened with an axe but not assaulted and the robbers left on white Lambretta-style scooters.
Casaletto, 25, a builder, from Brighton was arrested on November 19 and charged five days later.
He appeared at Brighton Crown Court pleaded guilty to robbery and two counts of handling stolen goods on July 22 and on July 23, at the same court, was given five years for robbery with a 12 month concurrent sentence for handling stolen goods. The one month sentence was connected to a suspended sentence for an unrelated matter.
Detective Constable Lee-Ann Doubell said: “Casaletto has admitted his involvement in this case which left a security van worker extremely shaken. The others involved have not been identified and anyone with further information is urged to get in touch. We are working very hard to keep Brighton and Hove a safe place and am pleased Casaletto has been put behind bars.”
