Detectives are continuing to investigate reports of gun shots heard in the East Drive area of Queen’s Park, Brighton.
Superintendent Julia Pope said: “We know this incident involved individuals known to one another and there is no information to suggest a risk to the wider public at this time. We are actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry to locate a known suspect.
“Public safety is our priority and additional high visibility patrols have been deployed in the area to provide reassurance. We have obtained statements from a number of witnesses and I would like to thank the local community for their patience, understanding and cooperation as we continue to investigate this matter.”
A 42-year-old woman from Brighton, arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of assisting an offender and failing to comply with conditions of a shotgun certificate, has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
